I’m amateur Lepidopterist, I trap and record moth species on my six acre wildlife meadow at Tibenham Norfolk, UK.

Barred Straw,(Gandaritis pyraliata).

The moth Is a macro species of the family of Geometridae, subfamily,Larentiinae.

It’s a small-sized moth with a wingspan of 28 to 33 mm.

The moth has one generation between May and August sometimes to early-September.

This moths easily identified due to its unique resting posture,

with the forewings held extended and completely covering the hindwings.

The species habitat is mainly Hedgerows, gardens, woodland rides, scrubby grassland.

Overwinters as an egg.

The Larva appears from April to mid-June.

It Pupates among plant debris.

The laval feeds on Cleavers and Bedstraws.

The moth is classed as a common species of the UK.
