Figure of Eighty - Tethea ocularis. A Macro moth species from the family of Drepanidae, subfamily Thyatirinae. With a wingspan of 30 to 38 mm. This attractive moth adopts a cylindrical posture at rest, with the wings curled tightly around the body. The white '80' mark on the forewing, from which the moth gets its name, varies in shape and intensity. Fresh specimens often have a violet or purplish tinge to the brownish ground colour. It favoured habitats. It can be found in woodland, parks, and gardens. The single-brooded moths can be found on the wing from May to July. The species' life history is the larvae feed. The larvae feed on Poplar and Aspen. It is found reasonably frequently in England from Yorkshire southwards. This species is classified as common.
