Wood Carpet-Epirrhoe rivata. A macro moth species from the family of Geometridae subfamily Larentiinae. Very similar to Common Carpet. Comparatively on average 20% larger in size which is not easy to judge in lone specimens. The white outer band of the Wood Carpet is relatively solid and only weakly divided, with a matching solid white band on the hindwing. The moth has a wingspan of Forewing 14-16mm. The moth as one generation from June to August. The moth's habitat favours woodland margins, chalky downland, and grassland. The larva foodplants are Lady's and Hedge Bedstraw. The moth is classified nationally as a Common species in the UK.
