Swallow Prominent - Pheosia tremula

Swallow Prominent - Pheosia tremula A macro moth species from the family of Notodontidae subfamily Notodontinae. Like Lesser Swallow Prominent, though not necessarily larger. Lesser Swallow Prominent has a more distinct white wedge at the tornus of the forewing and lacks the wavy white line in the blackish area of the hindwing. The moth has a wingspan of 45-55 mm. The moth as two generations from April to June and Aug. The moth's habitat favours woodland, plantations, scrub, gardens, and parks. The larva foodplants are Poplar and Willow. The moth is widespread and classified nationally as a Common species of the UK.
