Spring Usher - Agriopis leucophaearia. A macro moth species from the family of Geometridae subfamily Ennominae. A very variable species, with males varying from almost black-and-white to a drab greyish and rather a plain appearance. The females are wingless and climb up tree trunks and the males fly weakly to them, also being attracted to light. The moth has a wingspan of 23-28 mm. The moth as one generation from January to March. The moth's habitat favours Various habitats, particularly Oak woodland. The larva foodplants are mainly on Oak The moth is classified nationally as a Common species of the UK.
