Hello, from Steve Garten and welcome to my weird and wonderful world of moths.

Iā€™m amateur Lepidopterist, I trap and record moth species on my six acre wildlife meadow at Tibenham Norfolk, UK.

The list of moths listed in this Macro-moths blog and the Micro Moths blog are the species I have recorded since 2015.

Spectacle - Abrostola tripartita.

Spectacle - Abrostola tripartita. A macro moth species from the family of Noctuidaesub family Plusiinae. This moth derives its English name from the raised tufts of scales on the thorax, which resembles a pair of spectacles when viewed from the front. The moth has a wingspan of 27-30 mm. It has one or two generations, flying between May and September, and is a regular visitor to light. The moth's habitat favours gardens, heathland, rough grassland, fens, woodland edges, and waste ground. The larva foodplants are Nettles and the species passes the winter as a pupa. The moth is widespread and classified nationally as a Common species of the UK.
