Small Wainscot - Denticucullus pygmina. A macro moth species from the family of Noctuidae sub family Xyleninae. This species varies somewhat in ground colour, with specimens ranging from pale buff to deep reddish-brown. The moth has a wingspan of 23 to 29 mm. The moth as one generation from August to September. The moth's habitat favours marshy areas, wet heathland, and other damp localities. The larvae feed internally in the stems of sedges. The moth is local in Norfolk but classified nationally as a Common species of the UK.
