Silver-ground Carpet - Xanthorhoe montanata. A macro moth species from the family of Geometridae sub family Larentiinae. Displaying a wide range of differing depths of colour, although all forms have the distinctive whitish ground colour. The moth has a wingspan of 24-28 mm. The moth as one generation from May to July. The moth's habitat favours woodlands, clearings, and similar habitats. The larva foodplants are Low plants such as Bedstraw. The moth is classified nationally as a Common species of the UK.
