Shoulder-striped Wainscot - Leucania comma.

Shoulder-striped Wainscot - Leucania comma. A macro moth species from the family of Noctuidae sub family Hadeninae. One of the more strongly marked Wainscots with characteristic long, thick, black streak from base to centre of wing, white costal streak, and white finger-like veins. It as a Wingspan of 32 to 37 mm. The moth as one generation from May to July. And is attracted to light. The moth's habitat favours, Heathland, scrub, grassland, fens, and open woodland. The caterpillar feeds by night on various grasses, especially Cock's-foot. The moth is widespread and classified nationally as a Common species of the UK.
