Rosy Rustic - Hydraecia micacea A macro moth species from the family of Noctuidae sub family Xylenina . An unmistakable moth, with a wide variation in both colour and size. The moth has a wingspan of 28 to 45 mm. The moth as one generation from August to October. The moth's habitat favours waste ground, marshy areas, and other places where the foodplants such as Docks grow. The larvae live on a range of low plants, but especially Dock, feeding beneath the ground on the roots. The moth is classified nationally as a common species of the UK.
