Light Emerald - Campaea margaritaria. A macro moth species from the family of Geometridae sub family Ennominae. An attractive pale-green species, which has a blood-red tip to the forewing, sometimes extending as a line along the outer edge of both fore and hindwings. Fading to white a few days after emergence. The moth has a wingspan of 30-40 mm. The moth as two generations from May to August often with partial generation moths are smaller and darker appearing in August to October. The moth’s habitat favours broad-leaved woodland, areas with scattered trees, scrub, hedgerows, parks, and gardens. The larva lives on the foliage of several deciduous trees. The moth is widespread and classified nationally as a common species of the UK.
