I’m amateur Lepidopterist, I trap and record moth species on my six acre wildlife meadow at Tibenham Norfolk, UK.

Least Carpet - Idaea rusticata.

Least Carpet - Idaea rusticata. A macro moth species from the family of Geometridae sub family Sterrhinae. This is a small but delicately marked moth. The moth has a wingspan of 19 to 21 mm. The moth as one generation, from July and August, occasionally a partial second generation. it flies at night and can be attracted to light. The moth’s habitat favours various habitats gardens, heathland, fens, scrub, grassland. especially in areas where the larval food plants are found. The larva foodplants are Ivy and Traveller's Joy among other plants. The moth was formerly restricted to the south-eastern counties of England, although it seems to be increasing its range The moth is classified nationally as a local species of the UK.
