Hello, from Steve Garten and welcome to my weird and wonderful world of moths.

I’m amateur Lepidopterist, I trap and record moth species on my six acre wildlife meadow at Tibenham Norfolk, UK.

The list of moths listed in this Macro-moths blog and the Micro Moths blog are the species I have recorded since 2015.

Dingy Footman - Eilema griseola

Dingy footman - Collita griseola, From the family Erebidae, sub family, Arctiinae. With a wingspan of 32–40 mm. The moth flies from June to August depending on the location. Several of the Eilema species can be difficult to tell apart, but this moth has broader, more rounded forewings than many of the others. The larvae feed on lichen and algae. like a number of moth species with larva that feed on lichens and algae In Britain it was originally limited to southern fens, heathland, woodland, scrub, grassland., but has since spread northwards and now occupy a variety of habitats, including gardens It is fairly common in the southern half of England and Wales. Uk status for this moth is classed as common.
