I’m amateur Lepidopterist, I trap and record moth species on my six acre wildlife meadow at Tibenham Norfolk, UK.

Early Moth - Theria primaria.

The moth is from the family of Geometridae – subfamily ---- Ennominae.

.It Is a medium-sized macro moth, with a wingspan of 32 to 37 mm.

The females of this species are almost wingless a characteristic of many other winter moth species.

The species as one generation and its flight season are January to February.

The moth's habitats are mainly open woodland areas, margins, scrub and hedgerows.

The species overwinters as a pupa just below ground.

The larva appears from April to May.

The species feed mainly on Hawthorn and Blackthorn in the larval stage..

The moth is classified nationally as a Common species of the UK.
