I’m amateur Lepidopterist, I trap and record moth species on my six acre wildlife meadow at Tibenham Norfolk, UK.
The list of moths listed in this Macro-moths blog and the Micro Moths blog are the species I have recorded since 2015.
Coronet-----Craniophora ligustri.
The moth is from the family of Noctuidae – subfamily ---- Acronictinae.
It Is a small to medium-sized macro moth, with a wingspan of 30 to 35mm.
The moth as two generations in the south, flying from May to October; further north there is just one, in July and August.
The moth's habitat favourites are woodland, commons, downland and marshy places.
It overwinters as a pupa in a strong cocoon, usually under moss on a tree trunk.
The larval foodplants are ash and wild privet.
The moth is classed as a local species of the UK.
