Iā€™m amateur Lepidopterist, I trap and record moth species on my six acre wildlife meadow at Tibenham Norfolk, UK.

Clouded Drab - Orthosia incerta

Clouded Drab - Orthosia incerta.

The moth is from the family of Noctuidae, subfamily Hadeninae.

It Is one of the medium to larger macro moths, with a wingspan of 35 to 40 mm.

The moth as one generation and its flight season is from March to May.

The moth's habitat is mainly broad-leaved woodland, scrub, heathland and gardens.

It overwinters as a pupa in an unground chamber, with the adult fully formed inside.

The Larva appears from April to early June, living at first on the developing buds,

Then in spun shoots or leaves, then resting under a leaf in the final instar.

The larvae feed on several trees and shrubs, but especially Oak.

The species is classed as common throughout the UK.
