I’m amateur Lepidopterist, I trap and record moth species on my six acre wildlife meadow at Tibenham Norfolk, UK.
The list of moths listed in this Macro-moths blog and the Micro Moths blog are the species I have recorded since 2015.
Chinese Character----Cilix glaucata.
The moth is from the family of Drepanidae, subfamily Drepaninae
The moth is a small-sized macro species, with a wingspan of 18 to 22 mm.
The moth has two generations and is in flight from April to June and again from July to September.
The species habitats are hedgerows, gardens, and woodland.
It overwinters as a pupa, in a cocoon attached to leaves, debris, or bark.
The larva appears mid-June to mid-July and again late August to September.
The lava feeds mainly on blackthorn, hawthorn and crab apple, bramble, rowan, and sometimes pear.
This moth was classified as common and occurs reasonably commonly in England, Wales, Ireland, and southern Scotland.
